As a woman of colour, former refugee, and immigrant, my work explores the concepts of immigration, belonging, and identity within transnational contexts. Informed by my history, this work references my cultural background while foregrounding my research-based practice. The abstract shapes read from right to left and spell my first name in Persian. The lines that run through the work are visual representations that signify my journey. “Namesake” is reworked from thrifted materials.
